Contest Details

DATE: Saturday, August 28

TIME: Set-up at 3:15pm, cars must be out of contest area by 4:30; judging starts at 5:00 & gates open at 5:30

PLACE: “Salsaritaville” – the General Exhibits building at the Heart of Texas Coliseum

AWARDS: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards will be presented to the best margarita, salsa, & queso for restaurants and individual entries. We will also have a “People’s Choice Award”. This award is voted on by the citizens and the official judges of “Salsaritaville” by placing food/drink tickets or cash money in a bucket (provided by foundation) in front of your samples.

ENTRIES & REGISTRATION:
ENTRY DEADLINE IS WED, AUG 13

**According to TABC law, any contestant serving margaritas must be TABC certified. A class will be offered 2 weeks before the contest for any contestant needing certification. Proof of certification must be provided.

RESTAURANTS: Entry fee of $100 for each entry. If a contestant would like to enter all three categories, the entry fee will be a total of $300. Each participant should provide up to 3, but no more than 4 gallons of their margarita entry and up to 2 gallons of salsa or queso. Materials provided for each entry: 1-6ft table per entry; tablecloth; 2 t-shirts; 4 entry tickets; sample cups & chips will be provided for judging and sampling. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in each category will win a plaque and the 1st place winners will also receive a special award. *Alcohol for restaurant margaritas will be sold to you at wholesale price from the Arthritis Foundation.

INDIVIDUALS: Entry fee is $100 for each entry. If a contestant would like to enter all three categories, the entry fee will be only $275. Each participant will provide up to 3 gallons of their margarita entry and up to 2 gallons of salsa or queso. *Certain health restrictions may apply to individual entries. Materials provided for each entry: 1-6ft table per entry; tablecloth; 2 t-shirts; 2 entry tickets; sample cups & chips will be provided for judging and sampling; liquor amount for up to 4 gallons only (please specify brand and quantity). Individual winners will receive cash money! 1st place in all categories will be awarded $200, 2nd place $150, and 3rd place $100.
