What's An Academic Rodeo?
The Heart O' Texas Academic Rodeo is the chance for 1st through 6th grade students to show off everything they've learned in school. Students can compete in any of the three events based on grade level: the Math Bee, the Spelling Bee, or the Social Studies Bee. Winners will take home cash, awards, and bragging rights.

How Does It Work?
MATH BEE
The Math Bee is open to all 1st through 6th graders. All contestants are required to come to the Extraco Coliseum on test night. 1st through 3rd graders will have 30 minutes to complete their test, while 4th through 6th graders will have 45 minutes. Tests will be graded and awards will be given through 5th place in each grade.
Ribbons and cash awards will be presented to the students at the Academic Rodeo awards ceremony.

SPELLING BEE
The Spelling Bee is open to all 1st through 6th graders. All contestants are required to come to the Extraco Coliseum on test night.
For 1st through 3rd graders, the entire contest will take place on paper and results will be decided at the conclusion of test night. These students will be presented with their ribbons and cash awards during the Academic Rodeo awards ceremony.
For 4th through 6th graders, the test night is the preliminary round. The top 5 students from each grade will come back for the Oral Bee which takes place after the awards ceremony. The Oral Bee will determine who takes home the awards in these grades. To be eligible for the awards, the student must present and participate in the Oral Bee.

SOCIAL STUDIES BEE
The Social Studies Bee is open to all 4th through 6th Graders. 4th graders will be tested on Texas Symbols, 5th graders on states and capitals, and 6th graders on labeling countries using the world map. All contestants are required to come to the Extraco Coliseum on test night. They will have 30 minutes to complete their test.
Ribbons and cash awards will be presented to the students at the Academic Rodeo awards ceremony.
